This Week's News & Events in Stillwater
Good morning and Happy Halloween Stillwater! This is your weekly update for October 30–November 5, 2025.
Lots of Halloween and trick or treating activities to be sure in this one. I probably missed a few, but I gave up on omniscience a long time ago. I hope you all have a festive and pumpkin-spicey Halloween!
Congrats to Isaiah Wittman and Laney Williams who are getting married this weekend 🥂

Quick Coffee Poll Update! ☕☕☕
Flash! We interrupt this newsletter with a special announcement! The results of the coffee spot are in! Aspen Coffee was the clear winner leading with 74 out of 139 votes (53%). It looks like Saturday will be a pretty chilly morning, and Nancy from Nancy’s on Main recommended the Aspen Coffee at Fountain Square over on the west side of town. Good idea Nancy. There’s more room inside so we don’t freeze.
Stop by and say hi. Grab a coffee on me (just tell them your with Lokal Life and they’ll put it on my tab). Looking forward to meeting some of ya!

Bach in the Saddle Again 🤠🎻
I wish I could take credit for that pun, but I can’t. It all goes to the fine young people of the Stillwater Marching Band. They’re putting on a Halloween community performance on Friday at 7 PM at Pioneer Stadium. Attendance is free and the performance should take around 15 min. They head off to the Oklahoma Bandmaster State Championships in Broken arrow on Saturday, so let’s cheer them on!
They’ll be playing selections such as: Little Fugue in G Minor, How the West Was Won, Desperado, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, and The Magnificent Seven.

I received an email from the superintendent, as probably many of you did as well. Here it is in brief in case you missed it:
With the government shutdown potentially affecting SNAP benefits on November 1, SPS wants families to know help is available. Free and reduced school meals continue unaffected. Our Daily Bread, Pioneer Pantries, and transportation assistance are available for those in need.
If you want to help, consider donating funds or non-perishable items (especially high-protein snacks) at the SPS Administration Building.

RANDOM ᝰ.ᐟ
🦗 After the recent rain have you wondered “What’s the meaning of these mounds of dirt on my lawn?” I did. I stumbled on this video shared by Ms. Calissa Kennedy that cleared it up for me. Basically, if its a big mound, it’s a short-tailed cricket that’s done some housecleaning, or burrow cleaning to be more precise.
THANKS!
