This Week's News & Events in Stillwater
Good morning, Stillwater! Hello to all 3000+ of your beautiful faces.
I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day last week and, like me, are looking forward to thawing out this weekend. Meanwhile, this icebox weather we’re having might put the kibosh on some of these happenings. Double check before you go and stay safe out there 🚙.
In today’s edition:
Taste of Stillwater tickets on sale
Stillwater Art Guild is back 🎨
Free document shredding 💪🏼
Some cheese worth seizing 🪤
Let’s get down to it!
– Nate Cheever
Sponsored By Stillwater Public Education Fund
Yes oh yes, dear reader! Taste of Stillwater is back on March 4th in its 28th fundraiser year!
If you’ve never been, here’s how it works: pay once for your ticket and then get access to a buffet of over 30 local restaurants—all without the drive-thru. If it’s a restaurant you like, chances are it’ll be there. Use your ticket to visit vendors as much as you like to sample all of the yummy food available! And the best part of all is all the funds go to support SPEF teacher grants & special programming for our kids in school.
It will be held at the Payne County Expo Center on Tuesday, March 4, 5:30-7:30 PM.
But don’t wait till you’re at the door! Buy your family tickets in advance and save $5/ticket. See the downloadable flyer at the end more details ⬇️.
Share Your Good News! 🎉
I know the weather has been a beast lately, but who here has some good news they’d like to share?!
WHAT’S UP IN STILLWATER
You’ve probably heard already but OSU and SPS classes are cancelled today for weather. 📚 City offices will be open though probably not fully staffed given road conditions.
Brrr! Warming Shelters Open in Stillwater ❄️
If you or someone you know needs a warm place to stay, please spread the word! Both Christian Missionary Alliance Church and Pits Smoke Shop are opening their doors to help folks escape the cold. Bless their hearts for doing this!
📍 Christian Missionary Alliance Church (1402 E 6th St) – Open for shelter until Friday
📍 Pits Smoke Shop (1315 N Perkins road) – Also offering shelter
Stay safe, stay warm, and share this info with anyone who might need it! ❤️
Carpe Caseum! (Seize the Cheese!) at Stonecloud 🧀🍻
My wife loves cheesy things like Hallmark movies, Full House, Halloweentown. I prefer my cheese grilled. And if you do too (or your kids do), you might enjoy Sam’s Cheesin’ It Up at the Stonecloud taproom this Saturday at 5 PM.
Checkout their menu here. Looks like they have lots of family-friendly yummy options. The snow and ice will be melting and so will the cheese! Throw in some Lionel Richie, and you’ve completed the circle of cheese.
Stillwater Art Guild is Back! 🎨

LOCAL BUSINESS
Last week I asked y’all if some of your favorite downtown stores had an online store, would you be more likely to browse and buy? Your Answer? A solid kinda-yes! 😄

Judging from the results and comments, it sounds like for many people (myself included) having an online shop is nice just to see what’s there. And once you find something you like, you can go in and buy it. I’m going to see what I can do to make this happen. More to come!
New Super Thrift to hold grand opening 🛍️✨
Super Thrift has opened a new store, called the Stillwater North location, at 1016 E Airport Rd (just east of Perkins Rd). The grand opening is this Saturday, Feb. 22nd.
Cheers to Iron Monk on their 10 year birthday 🍻
They’ve planned a Saturday birthday bash, including a new beer release, live music, Pistol Pete on site for signatures, a brewery tour, more live music and another new beer. It all starts at noon this Saturday, Feb 22. Happy 10th Birthday IRON MONK!
Meet the new bread baker on the block 🍞
OSU Junior Kierson Reasner started selling sourdough baked goods that look really good. On the menu are the traditional sourdough, sandwich bread, bagels, Hawaiian rolls, even cinnamon rolls, ranging from $8 - $10. She’s only accepting 10 orders a week, because she’s busy with school! You can message her here.
It’s almost tulip picking season at Bayer’s Blooms 🌷
Bayer’s Blooms sent their first newsletter in five months this week. I subscribed to keep up on tabs on their Tulip You-Pick dates coming soon this (eventually) spring. From the description, it sounds like a mini Holland in Perkins. Their tentative Tulip you-pick opening date is Wednesday, March 19 from 4-6 PM. We all know how crazy the weather can be in March so subscribe to get the latest updates in case things change.
Looking for the Now Hiring section? It’ll be here on our next newsletter 👍
